Starting with a thematic concept, Chaojun Jones’ artwork often combines sculptural materials with flat surfaces. Her current project seeks to capture the process of time by recording the movement of the subject, captured through photography, into new paintings.

 

She has divided the project into two parts: ‘Daytime’ and ‘Nightlight’. For ‘Daytime’, Jones uses paint and embroidery to depict the contrast between movement and fixed objects. ‘Nightlight’ employs UV paint and glow in the dark paint to create luminescent canvas pieces which, when viewed with UV light in the dark, reveals new details, textures and colours.
